DDP or Not

sihak

Hi everyone,

My name is Sihak. I am currently enrolled in an MBA program in Asia, Japan in detail. My school offer option between 1-year MBA and 2-year Double Degree Program ( with second degree in either France-Edhec,Grenoble Ecole de Management; Germany- HHL, EBS, or Canda-Alberta). Tuition difference between 2 program is not significant and is paid totally at first university.

Should I consider taking a DDP program? Will 1 more year in Europe strengthen my profile? My career goal is to find job in investment banking or consulting in Asia. What do you think of HHL among those school options?

Thanks

These are great schools. I think it will certainly help you. For finance, EDHEC stands out strongly. HHL is an excellent school for general management, and send a lot of people in to consulting. Can you choose any degree from the school you go to?

Thanks for your reply, Duncan. I can choose several degree program at the second school, either an MBA or MSC. But 2nd MBA is more preferable to me. What do you think about Alberta? They offer 4-month track for 2nd degree which may shorten my time significantly.

Well, I invite you to consider that the second degree might involve some additional learning as well as an second diploma. I think an MBA or a MiF from EDHEC would be an excellent investment and a great fit with your career goals. I don't think Alberta is as strong for finance, although it clearly has some insight into find management and corporate finance.

Dont go for France. The French guys I met are very pessimistic about job market in France. You will have very few chance to land a job in France without knowing their language. French business education is not that all top of the world, as i saw directly.

HHL is a great school. I talked to some guys from the school, and most of them appreciate the program. Though, language is a barrier to land a job, and you may work with a lot of Indian

North American is more open minded, I think alberta is the best option since you do not have to study new language. UoA is a great school, but it may be undermined because of its weather and originality

The career outcomes from EDHEC speak for themselves: the FT ranks it's MFin in the top handful in the world. You can't generalise about France or French education: their graduates do not get typical outcomes.

HHL is a great school. I learnt a lot there, but it's not a school for finance.
