Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan

donho199

Hi guys,

I just get accepted to Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan on full scholarship.

Some benefits are:
Full tuition
Accommodation
1 month study at MIT Sloan
2 week US trek

Courses teach mostly by MIT faculty with some ASB in resident faculty. The faculty list looks impressive. In-resident faculty has PhD from Stanford or Harvard for example.

Does it worth it?

I am an engineer and I want to move into general management or business development for top tech firms

Well done. Go for it! Also consider using the money you save to apply for the MIT MSMS.

It is a great opportunity: the MIT experience but in a small and very powerful cohort. I am especially impressed that the cohort has its own residential campus included in the fees: that makes it even more impressive as an experience, and great value if you think that the MIT summer school by itself is based on the $65,000 Sloan AMP.

Yes, the residential campus is like a resort

The School actually says the facility is 5 star. It is where Malaysia Central Bank hosts their guests. So it must be nothing short of comfy.

I did not know the 1 month spent at MIT is based on Sloan AMP? If it is the case. What a great bargain.

Let me share about how I am accepted the program.

My journey to explore an MBA is a long one. I always wanted to do an MBA but there are always things like promotion or family and being an engineer I have quite a fair bit of studying myself. Think of those engineers with their kits in the garage working on their toy projects.

I had Project Management certificates to advance in my careers and earned a Finance degree because I work in Banking. Yet there is always room for more learning and development.

At my age 33 opportunity cost and family cost are too high so I want to go for either a top program and stay optimistic with money or get into a very good one on substantial Scholarship.

I went into an MBA conference and met the Director of Admissions and she was giving a powerful sales speech for the school and I applied straight away. I am on the second cohort and everyone accepted will be given full scholarship. The third cohort onwards majority of people will also receive substantial financial aid and there are also others financed by their own company. So if you are interested in Asia especially South East Asia where there is Singapore and Malaysia which have pretty high level standard of living but there are also other countries where there are lots of opportunities like Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam. This is the perfect package.

There are some other more established schools in Singapore but when you evaluate the program and the school objectively, ASB really has just all the right ingredients to provide a top notch MBA experience.

Fees were 85,000 USD yet when you look at it even without full scholarship is still great value. All courses will be taught by MIT Professors flying over to teach. Residential faculty are top notch and have been at top Universities to help you. The study trip in MIT which I did not know is based on 65,000 Sloan AMP as well as 2 week US trek where the students visited Tesla, Facebook and Microsoft. Must be a lot of exposure. On top of that, the accommodation is included.

The AMP is based on the school that Sloan runs for the affiliate schools. It used to be the same thing (I was admitted to it) but now they are separate but similar. Both lead to affiliate alumni status.
