Hi all
Please I want to join a DBA program in Egypt, the options are:
1. Victoria university, through Brilliance business school in Egypt.
2. Arab academy AAST
3.Eslsca
Please advise as I have to choose during one month. I was in favor of Brilliance business school, but I got contradicting reviews about it.
Thank you.

Victoria university is the Swiss diploma mill? Ignore that.
ESLSCA is a real school, but the DBA looks odd: lots of taught courses, none in research methods. Is there a thesis?
Why not take a part-time PhD at a local university?

Thank you for your reply. I knew that Victoria university is legalized but not accredited by the Swiss governement. Yet I contacted some of its MBA graduates and they gave me good feedback about the quality of education and services provided!!!!
Unfortunately ESLSCA provides the DBA program in a single branch that is very far frommy place!!!
Do you think that an Egyptian localuniversity would be better than an international institute like victoria????

Absolutely. Victoria is a not a university, and does not have the right to issue degrees. Obviously graduates will endorse a school they have invested in. If you goal is to use the qualification, then you cannot take it seriously. Also, it's clearly a taught programme based on the MBA: it's not a research degree. I am sure that an Egyptian university, even a poor one, will issue state-recognised degrees.

What do you think about the distance learning DBA program of Edinburgh business school? ?
Posted Sep 20, 2014 12:55
That's a legal university with a well known school. Of course I think a school with international accreditation like AMBA, AACSB or EQUIS would be better if you wanted to have an international academic career.

What do you think about distance learning in general, would it work? and how will be the thesis evaluated without a public defense??
Do u recommend other schools with similr programs?

I think it's very challenging for a doctorate. There are really five elements:
- Research training is essential to allow you to find a strong methodology. A doctorate is really training in research, not in your question.
- Directed reading in an ongoing process of discussion with an expert in your field.
- testing and executing methods for your data collection
- Writing, and finding outlets for, your conference papers, journal articles and thesis
- Gathering and implementing corrections to your work from leading academics.
I struggle to see how this can be done by distance learning, at a price affordable for the middle class Egyptian.

I see your point, the case is that the DBA is provided by very few institutes in Egypt. The only options I have now are Eslsca and cairo university... so what do u think??

Why not take a part-time PhD?
For example, I once met a participant in this programme: http://english.pte.hu/index.php?p=contents&cid=71 It sounded very good.
