The University of Tampa's Sykes College of Business has launched an MBA concentration in Business Analytics.
The new concentration will help students use big data to make better business decisions. "Professionals skilled in business analytics add value and keep organizations competitive by incisively analyzing large amounts of data and providing insight regarding operational efficiency, market trends, business planning and more," according to the program webpage.
The business analytics concentration includes five courses, covering topics in "decision modeling and analysis," "methods in regression analysis," "advanced portfolio management," and more.
With the new MBA concentration, Sykes joins a growing number of business schools offering management programs with a focus in business analytics. Last year, for instance, Amsterdam Business School announced the launch of a specialized MBA in Big Data and Business Analytics; and earlier this year American University's Kogod School of Business announced that it would be launching an online Master in Science in the space.
Other business schools, such as New York University's Stern School of Business and Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business, also offer MBA concentrations or tracks in business analytics.
In addition to the new concentration, Tampa - Sykes also offers MBA specializations in Entrepreneurship, Finance, Information Systems Management, International Business, Marketing, and Nonprofit Management.
