Housing in New York

Marky

Hi guys, I am heading to NYC this fall and would appreciate any information about how to find affordable housing. Which areas would you recommend for housing for students attending NYU?
Thanks!

East village would probably the best choice for NYU students in terms of location. Rents in Manhattan are very expensive though. As you probably know, NYU provides some student housing: http://www.nyu.edu/housing/. According to this article: http://www.llm-guide.com/article/53/llm-guide-focus-on-student-life-new-york-city West Village, Chelsea, SoHo, Alphabet City, the Lower East Side, and Williamsburg in Brooklyn are good neighbourhoods as well. This may be of help, too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City and of course www.craigslist.org.

Good luck!

Hi Marsha, sorry for the late response. Took me a while to get back to this thread... Thanks for the links, which are quite useful. My favourite area would be the Lower East Side, but the rents are horrendous, if you do not have rich parents or have not worked before, forget about it! Marky
