Hi
I am Shankar, did 3 year Diploma in hotel management in India(2001) and started my career in hotel field as Food and Beverage Captain(3yr in India)then moved to London for higher studies(2004)- I got Advance diploma in Business Administration there and worked as Shift Manager in Burger King for 4years. I came back to India(2009) and joined the Hotel field again as I cant find the same perks as with MNC restaurants in India. I was working as front office assistant for 2 years and then moved to Dubai in a similar position and working in dubai now for about 1.5yrs. In the meanwhile I am doing my BBA through part time which I would complete in 2013 May. Also I would like to take gmat in MAY 2013.
I wish to make a career move and do an MBA in US or UK.
Recently there was an MBA fair in Dubai and I met with admissions officers from those universities/colleges. I came across William and Mary Mason school of business and I find their MBA program with merits and very old institution. I am interested in their program but in Virginia Darden is also there. I cannot see Mason school listed in any rankings even within the US.
Could you please evaluate and help me about my chances of securing a place for MBA and also about the Mason Business School.

You have to talk to Mason about your case.
As a person with many relatives spending a career in the hotel/restaurant industry i have to say the market is different to traditional MBA market.
Some Swiss schools are pretty good and hands-on. In Singapore you can find some executive Master/MBA specialized in food hotel industry.
Also look at the ranking, those schools rank near the top of the ranking may accept diploma. The top school is no doubt Ivy Cornell

Thank you donho for the reply
While I spoke to admissions officer she said that they require diverse students but didnot guarantee(just gave info) my case. May be they need to see the CV and then decide.
Moreover I want to move(career change) from the hotel field. Executive MBA is mostly for manager cadre and I am not in managerial role now. Also I need 2yr program rather than Exe MBA which would be shorter and wont fit me.
What is the medium of instruction in Swiss (Englih/ French)?

Mason is generally a good school, especially for a career in marketing or consulting. I guess it depends on your future ambitions.
Your profile may present an issue, as MBA programs typically will only look at post-BA work experience in the review process. Mason will do an evaluation if you contact them and let them know your story. You'll want to score at least 610-620 on the GMAT, but higher is always better, especially in light of your not having a bachelor's degree yet.
