Hi All,
I am Indian with very good acedamics and close to 5 years of work experience in a software company in Bangalore. I do not want to write GMAT and want to do my MBA in 2010-11 batch. I have a financial contraint and cannot exceed £20,000 (approx) including my living expenses.
I had applied for a few UK colleges for MBA 2010 which meet my above criteria. Of which, I have unconditional offers from few of them and havent heard from the other colleges yet. I am confused to choose the right one for me.
1) The University of Southampton MBA (£16750)
2) The University of Sheffield Management School (£14600 after £2000 off for Indian students)
3) The Salford MBA (£9000 after a £5000 off provided thru scholarship for good acedamics)
All three are AMBA accredited. One of my primary concerns post MBA is a good career oppurtunity in UK. Can you please help /guide me decide on which one of these colleges will be the best for me.
P.S.: I have an offer for MS in management from University of Glasgow also.
Thanks,
Sindhu

Hello....I would say Southampton > Sheffield > > > Salford...However, If I were you with 5 or more years of experience, I wouldnt even consider these universities except Southampton. Why dont you try (1) Univ of Westminster, (2) Kingston Univ, (3) Bristol Business School..etc
Cheers.!

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the delay. Why would you prefer Southampton?I am little confused between Sheffield and Southampton. Sheffield has featured in FT 2009 rankings, but not sure why it is not there in 2010. Southampton is present in the Economist MBA 2009..

HI...Southampton is slightly better than Sheffield in terms of quality teaching, better MBA student cohort and most importantly better employment opportunities. On the other hand, Sheffield has been known for their reputation over the years with a nice old history. I personally prefer Southampton since bcoz I dont go by what had happen in the past, but how the university is doing right now. Also, remember the rankings in various websites are supposed to be used only as guidelines.
Cheers!

Hi...I suggested these universities based on the location. In-addition, all these are AMBA accredited as well. Westminster and Kingston are based in London and Bristol is just 90 mins away from London. I reckon, the more closer you are to London, the better is your employment opportunities.

Hi All,
i am also in same dillema. 4 yrs exp, dont want to give GMAT, total budget 20K GBP. My Major concern is tough many british B schools have appared in global top 100, i have learnt that they dont provide any kind of career service, and we are left on our own to search jobs. Even existing students of colleges like Aston are repenting there decision of doing MBA from UK. So i am concerned, would it be right decision to go for UK MBA ?

Hello Ram...surely Westminster and Southampton wins the race. Sheffield, UWE and Hull are in the same league. Not too sure if I would recommend Leicester. I suggest you to research more before you decide to go to Leicester. Although, If I were you I would prefer Westminster.
Cheers and good luck.!

Hi Raj,
I think you should apply to Bradford,Birmingham,Aston as well..
Among all the universities mentioned, i think Nottingham stands out. Did you apply for the MBA prog in Strath?
Here you go:
Sheffield >Aberdeen> Greenwich Uni> Sheffield Hallam.

No, you don't need GMAT. It's based on work experience.

Hi guys i have a unconditional offer for msc management in salford and MBA in sheffield. Which one should i be opting for?
I have 3 yrs of work exp with a BE degree. I heard many of my friends telling me that Msc has more value than MBA. But i feel if we do Msc in a specific field it might be worth it instead of doing msc in management. Please pour in ur opinions.. It wil be very helpful..
Thanks in advance..
