Manchester has a large international airport, and so does Brimingham (near Warwick). From Heathrow they are both around three hours by public transport.

Duncan, do you know what the Manchester Test includes? Can you take it online? Is it difficult?

I think you can guess that it contains similar questions to the GMAT and is as hard as it needs to be ;-)

last week I followed a webinar by MBS Global and they talked about this test: they said that you don't have way to prepare and that it's based also on a business case.
People, asked for a possible vaiwe in case someone had the GMAT...the answer was negative.

On 1 February 2012 we are launching a new admissions test for the Global MBA programme, the
ManchesterMAT. Original Thinking Applied is incorporated into everything we do. Taking the
test will be your first experience of our unique approach to business education and set up a good
foundation for you as a student of the Manchester Global MBA programme.
This is not a test which you simply
pass or fail, but one which is designed
to provide relevant, additional
information on your suitability for the
programme and useful information
for you if you join the MBA.
The online test does not require any
preparation but you will need to set
aside one hour of your time when
you can focus without distraction, as
the test is normally taken once and
must be completed in one session.
You do not need to attend one of our
Centres to take the test as you can
take it online in the convenience of
your home or office. You will need
a computer with a good internet
connection and a calculator.
The ManchesterMAT has three sections and takes 60 minutes:
Part 1: Characteristics of Business Success
The first part of the test is a
psychometric questionnaire. Your
responses to the questions provide
your unique business profile in areas
such as leadership, motivation,
creativity and problem solving. The
questionnaire has been developed
through the original research of MBS
faculty who are experts in the field
of business psychology. There are
no ?right? or ?wrong? responses in this
section. You simply need to answer
the questions instinctively.
Your business profile will provide a fascinating starting point for discussion during the
Professional Development and Leadership courses, which are essential components of any world
class MBA programme and help us to provide a tailor made career service to you as a future
student of the Manchester Global MBA programme. You will be able to identify your business
strengths and the areas where the MBA can help you to further develop your leadership and
management skills to enhance your career.
This section has no time limit and takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Part 2: Business Numeracy
The second part of the test consists
of 10 numeracy questions and is
designed to let us find out if you are
familiar with the financial numbers
you deal with during everyday
business life. No preparation
should be required to be successful
in this section.
E.g. A chocolate manufacturer has developed a new product.
Each product costs them £1.09 to make and deliver.
They add a profit mark-up of 46%.
How much do they sell a case of 24 products for?
Numeracy is a necessary skill for
the financial elements of an MBA.
Original Thinking Applied
If you do not do well in this section
you may still be offered a place on
the programme, based on the other
elements of the application process. We will however encourage you to do some numeracy
preparation before the start of the programme.
This section is timed. You have 20 minutes and can use a calculator.
Part 3: Business Reasoning in English
The third part of the test is a short written English assignment to help us assess your English
level and share with us what you think. You can choose a topic from a selection of broad
business subjects. Drawing on your business experience and views, you will be asked to write up
to 500 words in English to share with us how you think about these issues and their impact
upon business.
This section is timed. You have 20 minutes to write up to 500 words.

Goodmorning, Duncan!
Thank you very much for your answer. I really do appreciate it!
Do you know more about the the 3rd part questions? Do you have any tips about the MAT and particularly about the 3rd part that you would like to share with us?
Thanks in advance...

No but I would guess that any guidance for the AWA section on the GMAT will be highly applicable.
Posted Mar 08, 2012 13:30
I did the MAT and it was pretty easy.
They never release your score to you though.

How long it takes after you send them your application, to send you link for the MAT test?
Posted Mar 09, 2012 08:56
I did it all in one day.
Posted Mar 09, 2012 09:27
So, the same day you send them the application you are able to proceed to the MAT? Is this correct?
How long does it take for the MBS to assess your application and receive the offer for the MBA?
