Hello All

I have applied for the Full time MBA program at University of Birmingham (Sep 2013 start). I got an email from them to schedule a 30 min interview next week.

Has anyone had experience with their interviews? What do they normally ask ?

They mention nothing about an interview on their website. I am not sure what to make of the interview request.

Please help!

I think the application form does ask if you are able to attend for an interview, so perhaps it's not a big surprise. Did you ask for financial aid?

Expect them to discuss your application materials, especially your personal statement, and your goals.

30 minutes is not that long, so think more about top-level general questions rather than more nuanced considerations. Or they may want you to clarify something about your resume or application.

I would be prepared for general questions, along these lines:

Why do you want an MBA? Why now? Why Birmingham specifically?

How does the Birmingham MBA fit into your career arc?

Discuss a specific challenge you have faced in your professional life, and how you dealt with it.

Discuss a significant leadership experience you've had in your career.

Hello All

Thanks a lot for your responses. I got rejected by Birmingham. The interview questions were pretty straightforward - Why MBA? Why Birmingham ? Why now ? There were 3 people on the call and I spoke to 2 of them. The second person was from Career Services and had questions about my work experience. They did not ask anything that wasn't there on my application/resume. In the rejection email - they said they wanted to see more leadership experiences at work and apply next year.

Sorry to hear that.

At least they gave you some feedback, so you can regroup and try again next year.

Hard to come by on the forum who got people rejected by Birmingham... Feel happy for her that she made it into Aston in the end.
