Masters in Wales

Ivanna

Hello Everyone,
I am planning to go to UK Wales next year to complete my Masters degree in business and management. Due to some personnel matters I consider only to locations: Cardiff and Newport.
I also have an offer from Cardiff business school for the MBA course, but I read some of the Duncan?s comments and I am not so sure anymore, as he said this program was good for those who are not planning to stay in UK.
May be you could suggest some schools/programs to maximize my chances to work in Wales?
I will really appreciate any advice.
Thank you!

P.S.
I have 6 years of work experience in China, fluent in Russian, Chinese and quite good in English (Academic IELTS 7.5).

How about Bath? It's less than an hour by train from Newport. Otherwise Cardiff is the your best bet, at least it's AACSB accredited.

Ah, I just noticed that you are specifically looking for jobs in Wales. Wow. There are not a lot of MBA jobs in Wales. Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, the three major towns, do not have any major MBA-employing firms. In that context then the Cardiff Business School is your best choice, but you will have to really maximise your time networking into the alumni base. I guess Centrica and Admiral might be good places to look at. However, it seems very possible that you will not get an MBA level role there. You might need to look instead at the sorts of vacancies which might go to MSc graduates.

PS To be honest, I am not sure that your money would not be better invested in an intensive Welsh language course.

Hello Duncan,
Thank you so much for your detailed advice.
I don't think I will be able to travel from Cardiff to Bath every day, so Cardiff BS is still my #1choice.
Taking into consideration your advice, I looked in to different programs.
Cardiff Business schools also offers:
Logistics and Operations Management (MSc)
and
Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship (MSc)

In your opinion, is it the better choice from money worth/employability perspective?

Thank you again for your help,
Regards,
