Is Sheffield MBA value for money ?

Hi ,

My GMAT score is 640 , TOEFL score is 113 . I have around 4 years of work experience in IT and I currently work for one of the largest European Bank captives in India in its IT department .My aim is to move to Management Consulting . I have an offer from Sheffield MBA . I know that Sheffield University is highly respectable and is a part of the Russel group . Also it is very research intensive and featured in THE and past FT rankings . However I am still apprehensive because they donot require GMAT scores. Please let me know whether it is worth considering .

Has Sheffield been in FT rankings?

I think it would be a great choice for a PhD, but for consulting a GMAT school will be better. Read Why you should take the GMAT http://www.find-mba.com/board/38939 and How to use LinkedIn to find the best school www.find-mba.com/board/33571

Hey Duncan,

That Linkedin evaluation is an awesome tool . Thanks .. Regarding Sheffield , I also want to know how to interpret triple crown accreditation . Some universities in the list of 60 odd who boast this crown , do not feature in any of the rankings . It implies FT , THE , Economist rank schools on other criteria than AMBA , EQUIS and AACSB . Please advise .

Yes, they are the key tools, but the FT ranking is more reliable.
PS Ralph puts it better than me in his comment below.

To clarify, a triple crown is great but doesn't necessarily add value beyond just having one or two of the main accreditations. This is because each accreditation network historically focused on separate geographical areas (although this is changing.) So what happens is top-ranked schools in the world like Stanford and Harvard only have one accreditation - and this does nothing to diminish their value.

Point is don't focus on the triple crown, look instead at placements and rankings.
