Hi mates! Where would you advise me to live in London? I heard that Islington is a nice student area. I would liek to live in a "happening" neighbourhood, not too conservative but not dangerous either. Any advice? Cheers

i lived in london for a year. islington is nice and pretty happening. could be pricy tho. i think every london bourough has cool patches and rough patches. if you r looking in north london stoke newington is nice too. dont make the mistake of living in real central london, tho. i mean holborn or near the city. it seems convenient at first but then it gets depressing.

Thanks Grime boy ;-) And what about Brixton? I remember people saying some years ago that it was becoming more and more gentrified (if there is a positive sense to this word..)

why grime boy all of the sudden? its not like im suggesting that you move up to any real rough spots up in norf london. brixton has been gentrified since the clash wrote songs about it. but there is still a bit of seediness in the area. i knew a few u. of london students who saw some pretty rough things happen (violent muggings, etc) near their dorms just south of the thames. i know that could also happen in the posh areas too. im just sayin.

Hey dizzy, no offense, this was just a tribute to your name. As far as I remember this dizzy rascal guy is the best-known artists of thIS (rather) new music movement named 'Grime'. Hm, what you say coincides with what I've heard. The best will probably be to just accept one of the dorm places (as this is the cheapest way) and not worry too much about the location..

not to 2nd guess your decision, maga, but i wouldnt really settle for the dorms just becuase it is hard to find something else. cost is one thing. but if you can afford a little more, i think living "off campus" will make the experience more unique and memorable. it did for me. you'll see another side of london that way and u can sscape easier from the school environment if need be. im thinking of doing an mba in london, and wont be living in a dorm.
