IT to Finance with an MBA

Is this a reasonable transition to make? I'm an Electrical Engineer with a few years of experience in the field, and I'm interested in transitioning to Finance and potentially make it to an analyst role at a big bank/firm.

Would this path make sense or is experience too crucial of a role to move into the field of Finance? Can an MBA help there? Thanks

Someone in my LBS MBA study group was an aviation engineer who moved into investment banking; he held VP-level sales roles targeting private banks and digital platforms and is now CEO of a predictive analytics company.
I think a MiF at a great FT-ranked school in the CFA partner programme would give you a strong alternative to an MBA.

Thanks for the input. I'll do some more research but good to know that a MiF can be a solid path towards my goals as things stand at the moment.
