Concurrent Enrollment situation

FastOne

Hi there,

I am in a bit of a weird situation since I am concurrently enrolled in two seperate MBA programs. I was initially accepted to the MBA Program from school A, but switched after a few courses to school B. The reason being was that school B was offering the same program but it was significantly cheaper and it took a shorter time to complete as well. Both schools are ranked and accredited similarly.

School B also granted me advanced standing from my transfer credits, which meant that I could graduate 4 semesters earlier than if I took my original path with School A. I gave in to this offer and accepted the admission to School B.

I initially wanted to finish my MBA with School A due to its reputation and values,, but because of things that happened in my life (I had a baby, I purchased a house with a really high mortgage rate, now I lost my 2nd job due to this COVID virus lockdown), I won't be able to complete the MBA program with school A simply because I don't have the money to.

My original plan was not to inform School A that I've transferred out, and let my status as a student wither away over the years. I figured that if I didn't take any more courses, they would just eventually list me as inactive.

HOWEVER, what I did not know prior to making the decision to transfer to School B was that School A was offering up a terminal certificate option for those who cannot complete the full MBA program; specifically, if I took 8 courses with them I would get a "pre-MBA certificate". It's not a bad deal for doing a few courses with school A, and I would still be considered an alumni and come out with a Certificate in the interim. Had I known this, I would have finished these 8 courses to complete the pre-MBA certificate, and then made the transfer to School B.

So far, I only took one course with School B, and now I am thinking of transferring that one course I took with School B and back to School A, so that I can count that toward the Certificate.

Will I be able successfuly pull off the transfer? Do you think School A will be considerate of my situation?

Thanks and any advice is appreciated.

This is really a question for the school. The easiest thing is to tell school B that you are withdrawing because you have lost your job, and ask them for a transcript. Don't mention to them the idea of completing the certificate at A. Then give that transcript to school A and see if they will accept the credits, they may not.
I know one person in a EMBA who swapped schools and had to pay for the rest of the MBA.

Hi Duncan! Thank you for your response I really appreciate it.
I did think about that, but I do want to finish the MBA with School B ultimately. Essentially, I am in a situation where I transferred too early.
I also inquired about transfer credits to both schools and they said that they are willing to consider transfer credits from academic institutions like Universities.
I can't find anything on School A's website if being concurrently enrolled or enrolling to another University whilst being a enrolled in their MBA program is a violation of their policy and if that can get me removed permanently from the program or can get me put on a block-list. Would you know if this can get me in trouble? The issue here is that I never told School A of my intention to withdraw from the program, now I want to go back to School A to complete the certificate with a course I took from School B WHILE being technically still being enrolled in School B's program.
I'm still on the fence about talking the School A's academic advisor as I fear retribution.
Thanks in advance.
