Hello Duncan,
I am 29, my German is currently in between B1 and B2, and it will rapidly adjust after half a year in the country.
I was admitted (so far) at both HWR Berlin (MBA) and ESCP MEB-MBM ( +the accreditation for MSc. in Germany.).
My goal, after studies, is to start a career in strategic consultancy, while living in a German speaking country (Austria, Swiss, Germany).
I consider I have gained some business acumen during an international career in management positions (last 5 years), enough to match the "consultant" profile, but I am still curious which one of these schools would serve my needs, age, ambitions best? I know for some it might be an obvious choice but I guess I am looking for a more savvy opinion.
What is the diff. between an MBM and an MBA and how can one or the other actually impact a career in consultancy in my case?
Thank you very much for your assistance.

I think this is a really hard choice. On the one hand, the HWR course is an MBA with AMBA accreditation and will have an older cohort. On the other hand, ESCP is a world-class business school which attracts very high quality students and will have better careers services and connections to employers. It is, obviously, the better-connected school to strategic consultancies. Between the two, I would choose ESCP. At HWR careers are the responsibility of Marina Junkes, an art history PhD and coach who also seems to handle admissions (http://www.ehef-hk.org/2010html_src/pdf/ger_04.pdf) and alumni (https://www.xing.com/profile/Marina_Junkes2).
On balance I would pick ESCP.
