German Language School

atturhari

Hi,

I am planning to do MBA next year (Sep 2017 intake) in Germany. Prior to that, i am interested in learning German in Germany itself. I am looking for a long term course probably 8-9 months.
Any suggestions for good schools?

Thanks,
Hari

The cheapest option will be a university programme aimed at the DSH. Most of the big universities have their own language schools, like the DKFA in Munich, where I studied, and the Herder/InterDAF school in Leipzig, and almost all cooperate in Studienkollegen which are perhaps more supportive environments aimed at younger students.

In addition to what Duncan suggested, there are Volkshochschulen. These are local educational institutions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk_high_school#Germany_and_Austria
The course offering depends on the local municipality, courses are typically offered on weekday evenings.
And I think that the Goethe Institut also offers courses in Germany.

Many Volkshochschulen are pretty booked up with refugees now, so it's hard to get into some of their intensive courses.
