Dear friends,
Apologies in advance if I am asking a question already discussed at this forum. I am working with a consulting firm (a very reputed one) but at the back-end market research, etc. its been 2.5 years and I would love to pursue a one-year MBA in Europe and progress vertically in my career now. I have a strong academic background (brief profile below) and decent international exposure.
Could you please suggest 3-4 schools that have considerable attention from the likes of McKinsey, Bain, Delloite, etc. or even Capgemini, SAP, TCS (IT consulting) ?
Brief profile- Comp science engineer, CGPA- 3.6
2.5 yrs of work-ex (current): Promoted in 18 months with highest rating
GMAT- 730
Working for a European team since the last 2 years- so have decent knowledge of the financial sector in Europe- on-site for 2 months in Europe with the team.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help :)

Hi Arjun,
I would recomnend you some of the top European schools that I know that have recruited for top consulting jobs: INSEAD, IESE, ESADE.
The two Spanish schools are the ones I know the most but Insead is a "must" to apply as is where most of the consulting guys go for a post-mba careers in the same field.
good luck,
Singlespain

Hi,
Thanks so much for your reply!
I am already half-way through with my application for INSEAD :)
Talking of Spanish schools, how would you place IE in comparison to ESADE & IESE for a job in consulting?
I will for sure apply to IESE soon though not really sure about ESADE, usually heard its best for marketing jobs. Any facts about that?
Thanks again for your help on this!

I would apply to 3-4 schools (1st and 2nd round). Some topics are those like LBS is better for IB, IESE is better for finance, ESADE is better for marketing.... but there something beyond that of course.
My opinion is that in the case of a career changer, a 2 year MBA like the ones at IESE is the most appropiate because most of these are done during the internship. Anyway, above all, visit the schools, talk to alumni and take your own conclusions.
Regarding IE, I am not a fan of this school but it ranks higher in many rankings.

Thanks SingleSpain.
So, I did some more research after your reply and this is the list I could see for now:
- INSEAD
- IESE (2 year)
- ESADE
Anyone else with an opinion on IE Spain as a school for aspiring consultants?

IE Spain is a great school that has consistently snatched up top spots in different rankings. For aspiring consultants I can recommend the school as its strengths lie in entrepreneurship and strategy among others. In fact, from the graduating class 2008, 23% (the biggest share) of the class went into strategy and management consulting firms.
INSEAD is also a fantastic school of course.
I wish you good luck for your future and ample success for your applications

Hiya,
Far as I know, the IE Business School programs are quite impressive. Their students are some of the smartest candidates around, and it'll give you some exceptional international diversity as well. In fact, I read this interview with an IE candidate who co-authored a white paper on energy efficiency with a Climate Strategy company in Spain!
Thanks :)
