Domain specific Online EMBA programs offered by top B-Schools in Europe with high recruitment possibilities.

More Online MBA discussions at FIND MBA Online

Hello,

Find MBA boards are really helpful in gathering lot of information about MBA programs worldwide. Thanks for the great suggestions/recommendations provided by the team.

I am looking to take an online EMBA program, wanting to have a career boost.

To introduce myself....

I am currently working as program manager in India for a leading automotive company based in Europe. My working experience of 15 yrs is totally into IT software development and project management (mostly working with colleagues in US and Europe). Also being a certified business consultant, i am keen on learning various business models and strategies adopted across the globe to sustain and expand business.

My Goals:

1. Acquire global exposure of multiple business models/strategies and marketing.

2. Learn business development methodologies and evolve as a senior business development executive (doing professional consulting).

3. Emerge as a global business development executive. Thinking of global i am not centric towards any particular geographic location. If its an edge of having working experience with a German company, my preference would be to settle in Europe.

I would like to know...

1. Are the recruitment options equally open to regular MBA and EMBA students?

2. After successful completion of EMBA what would be the chance of getting recruited as a business development executive in Europe. Also if i stick to Europe (if not UK), is language going to be a barrier for getting recruited in European firms.

3. Is it true that, chances of getting recruited from an institution also depends on domain. From one of the articles, i read that...

Prefer LBS for Finance & Investment banking

INSEAD for Business strategy and Marketing

etc...

If so, Is there any such B-School which i should prefer for Automotive Domain?

Also it would be of great help if you can list the best fitting B-School offering online EMBA programs with a better global Alumni/network of a particular domain.

OR

Is my assumption totally wrong? Getting recruited in any company irrespective of domain would be possible once we successfully complete EMBA.

Can you suggest me which B-School would be best for me offering an online EMBA with better global Alumni?

With Regards,

Chandra.

You raise too many questions, and have too many incorrect assumptions, to give you an answer that will either satisfy you or convince you to shift assumptions. In a nutshell, firms tend to focus on the schools from which they have recruited the most in the past. There are very few specialised EMBAs and there is low employer demand for such programmes. Use LinkedIn to see where the firms you are targeting have recruited the most MBAs in the country you are focussed on.

On my profile page I have links to good articles on using LinkedIn, on specialised MBAs and on school selection.

Hello Duncan,

Thanks for reverting back quickly with the links. Sorry for my delayed reply.
Meanwhile, i was trying to gather few more views. I wanted to share few observations(may be it is helpful to others)...

Majority of my connects (in India) couldn't really benefit in their career by taking up Executive MBA (especially in current company).. But for sure, it will help changing the current throught process, had to switch company for career growth. Also a unanimous suggestion is to do from a reputed institution, without which it will end up unnoticed.

Also if possible, iIt is recommended to do a Full time MBA than Executive MBA for the following reasons...
1. Full time MBA has better chances of building network.

2. Placements would be focused on full time MBA students. Being a part of Alumni, Executive MBA grads might be considered for an opprotunity at a later point of time. (Provided one imparts the intention of switching from the current company with respective placement officer of the institution and maintain the frequent connect with him/her).

Any views on point2.
For sure, I donot have the possibility of doing full time MBA.

I saw few global EMBA course curriculums, they are diverse with exposure to multiple topics and not limited to a particular domain. May be my idea of taking-up a domain specific EMBA program is not correct.

Contact from IESE clarified that, If thinking of settling in Europe... Language barrier cannot be ruled out, especially with business discussions, an expert level negotiation is expected by most companies (except for few). There are lot of successful EMBA grads who have switched their domain. Need to check more on this.

Any views on the above topics would be appreciated.

With Regards,
Chandra

I don't quite get the way you frame it. Changing company is typically the fastest route to career growth. One of those is not the opposite of the other.

A full time MBA is better if you are making a large change (more than one of function, country and industry).

It sounds like the feedback you've received is pretty on-point. Full-time MBAs (at good schools) will have much more and more substantial career support than EMBAs (generally speaking).

If you want to transition into a non-English speaking European country, you'd need to start studying the language well before even getting into a program (preferably through immersion). It is not a short process.
