MBA in Japan - Is it a good choice?

Berlo

Hi, I'm (35M) an Italian legal consultant/lawyer with more than 10 years of experience.

In 2022 I lived in Tokyo, where I was studying the language. Now I'm living in Australia, but I'd like to come back in Japan and I'm looking for something that could be really useful to find a job there.

My japanese language level is N4 and I'm studying for the N3 (the test is next December). My goal is reaching the N2 level at the end of 2024.

Do you have any recommendations for me?

A MBA could be a good investment? If yes, which one could be the best option? I'm looking for something not too much expensive and with english courses.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You don't state what your goals are or what kind of role you would be seeking. Are you planning to stay in the legal field?

With a high client interaction occupation like a lawyer, perhaps you might be better off prioritising your language skills to get to N2 then take an MBA if appropriate.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
My goal is working and living there, no matter the field.
Obviously the legal field is perfect, but for me the most important thing is to be able to find a job, so I'm looking for something I can spend in the Japanese market.

N2 is like a high B1 or a low B2 on the European language framework. This is an intermediate level of language skills that would not be adequate for an MBA-level role. See https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/81zjo4/how_would_you_compare_the_japanese_n15_levels/ I believe a year in an intensive Japanese language course would be a better investment than an MBA taught in English.

After immersing yourself in learning Japanese language course, I suggest you look into Waseda, Keio, and Hitosubashi ICS. Although MBA is taught in English at those institutions, you may need to communicate in Japanese very well at work
