My friend is researching the MBA at Royal Roads, which includes two three-week residencies, nine courses completed online, and an Organizational Management Consulting Project. http://www.royalroads.ca/prospective-students/programs/business It doesn't have any respected international accreditation, but it might suit some folk.
A Canadian colleague of mine conducted non-random straw poll of 5 friends contacted via Facebook: she tells me that 4 out of 5 recommended it:
?Royal Roads is really well regarded!! I have a couple of friends who have just completed programs with them!! (one MBA and one Masters). I can send through their contact details if you would like...?
?Concur. Royal Roads is amazingly well regarded and I know four different people who have done masters there. They all had good things to say.?
?I have heard good things about Royal Roads. I heard it has good programs for while you're working and there are some specific programs it is well known for.?
?My friend is completing his degree with them part-time while he works. They do a lot of online/distance learning.?

So do most schools. I don't see how this is a selling point for a non-accredited school, especially for a hybrid program like this one.
Personally, I'd wait for this program to become accredited - in the meantime, there are some great distance learning and hybrid options already in Canada at Laval and Queen's

RRU is at a totally different price point from Queens. Isn't Laval's programme in French?

Well Royal Roads with its fees of 20 grand does not seem to be a bargain to me.
The Lowest Cost MBA Programs in Canada
Laval: $4,032-$9,717 for 12-23 months
Memorial: $4,398 for 12 ? 16 months
Sherbrooke: $4,600 for 16 months
University of Quebec: $4,748-$10,283 for 12-48 months
Royal Military College: $6,000 for 16-20 months
These are more like a bargain. All of them proper university and no degree mill

Royal Roads isn't a diploma mill. That's a ridiculous suggestion. Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Roads_University
There's only one internationally-accredited Canadian University offering the distance-learning MBA, and that's Queen's -- at $90,000. Royal Roads offers a totally average MBA a tiny fraction of that price from a nationally-recognised, bricks and mortar college founded in 1940, and upgraded to university status in 1957.
