GPA shortfall makeup

Hello, I am an international student who is interested in MBA or M.sc Finance program in one of the Canadian universities. I am aware of their standard requirements which include a GPA and GMAT score of 3.0 and 550 respectively. Although I have a bachelors degree, but my GPA isn't strong. I also have an accounting designation. Please can someone advise how I can bump up my GPA in order to be eligible for either of this program. thanks.

A 3.0 is not that low. If you can do some GMAT prep and get a higher score, this can show the admissions committees that you're more prepared for school now. That, combined with a good explanation for why your GPA may have been lower than it could have been, will go a long way. I wouldn't say that a 3.0 is a dealbreaker though, in general.
