MBA from UK for an Indian willing to come back - Leeds vs Lancaster vs Birmingham vs TCD

Dear All,

I am a Business Research professional having experience of more than 6 years. I have done BBA in my under graduation. I am preparing to study a full time MBA programme from either UK or Ireland. I have above mentioned options in hand. Unlike, most of the Indian applicants I am willing to come back after my studies since I have some commitments in India. The reason I am interested in Europe is for a superior quality education, cultural exchange and experience, strong network and above all a brand which can give me a boost in my career in India.
i would like to understand from you all which University has a strongest network in India and is well recognized. I understand rankings are global so I want to have an insight totally from the perspective of India especially in terms of wide network and recognition by the employers. Mostly employers in India are aware of regionally ranked top MBA's IIM, ISB etc. So which UK University has an old and reputed image for the employers out of these choices....ofcourse I know LBS, Oxford, Cambridge, INSEAD, HEC would be a superior choice but these are not my options for now....So perhaps somebody can throw light on my queries......

Thanks

I am sorry, I am not able to fully understand your query.

As per my understanding you want to figure out an MBA from UK/Ireland that has the strongest network and well recognized in India but excluding LBS, Oxford, Cambridge, INSEAD, HEC?

Companies in India aiming to hire MBA candidates at an entry level don't look at MBA programs outside India. Why would they? The same is true for any country/economy.

If you exclude the universities that you mentioned - which are generally known in India (and rest of the world) then maybe Trinity or UCD from Ireland?
In my opinion the network of a particular school becomes weaker as you travel away from the geographic location the school is present in. So if you ask how strong is the Chicago Booth network in Amsterdam? - Maybe not very!
In India, I know students who attend SPJain Dubai/Singapore, Copenhagen Business School, and ESSEC and came back. These are great schools for education and held in high regard in their respective country. But Indian firms will dole out Rs 7-8 lakh package (atleast to people I know in 2012), Lower than lets say Narsee Monjee, SPJain Mumbai or Symbiosis Pune.

Why would a Reliance Communication want to hire someone having MBA from Ireland onto their strategy team when they can find someone having MBA from SPJain Mumbai?

Yes, you're probably much better off doing your MBA from a school in India, if that's where you want to work in the long-term.

However, perhaps some employers in the country do value international experience. In that case you should look at the types of firms you want to work for and research where the employees there did their MBA. You can do this research through Linkedin.
