MBA (Durham or Berlin School of Economics and Law)

Hey there,

I have offer from both Durham Business Schools and Berlin School of Economics and Law. Which one would be better in terms of employment after studies

DBS
Pros : Good rank, Triple Accreditation, 75 at FT Times
Cons : No work Visa after studies, 25000GBP is costly investment, Again no guaranteed job placements

Berlin School of Economics and Law
Pros : AMBA Accreditation, 12000GBP much affordable, In the heart of Germany (Berlin City), 18 months work Visa in entire Europe post study
Cons : No placement information, Nowhere in any Rankings, Need to learn German to get a job in Germany

Can someone help me

Durham is light years ahead. For better options see:- Best schools for international students' placement http://www.find-mba.com/board/41143 (Durham was one of the top 20 schools worldwide the previous year).

You are mistaken about the work permit. International students in the UK simply need a job offer to get a work permit. How can a German degree get you the right to work anywhere in Europe??

PS Look at a map. Berlin is not in the heart of Germany, either geographically or metaphorically. It is the frost-bitten big toe of Germany, with half the GDP per capita of the other big cities.

I agree Duncan. Thanks for the review. Tell me in a worst case because of low finance if I had to choose Berlin option, would you thumbs up or advise me not to go for it.

No, if your budget is limited then take an MSc in finance at a better school.

Thanks Duncan, I come from an Software Engineering background with 5.5 years of experience, my aim was to get into project management, international business and marketing. Are there any such programs available in MSc ? If yes would u suggest some of best and affordable schools. Thanks

What is affordable? Where do you want to work? Perhaps the best options are the state run schools on the European mainland in The FT best business schools ranking. Take a year to learn the language first

Durham's not a bad choice, in the current FT ranking, it's ranked in terms of "international mobility" among better-ranked schools like Cass, Lancaster, and Warwick.

By no means does this mean you'll have a guarantee for placement -- you'll never have that, regardless of where you go -- but it does mean that if you hit the ground running and take advantage of all resources available to you, you do stand a relatively good chance.
