hi,
i'm from scotland, and i'm 31. which means it's time to get off my ass and start doing something worthwhile! if not, i'll be stuck here (i'm a teacher right now) for the rest of my days.
even the ie guy in italy told me i've a "uncommon" profile! been working in norway, then italy plus a year in china. but i want to change and get moving.
what are your reasons for choosing ie?
bye...

Hi
I'm going to join the September 2010 intake. I'm Egyptian, 32, a senior accountant in the Spanish Embassy in Cairo. Since I don't want o leave my current job, the MBA online seemed the only feasible option. I have done a detailed reserach & found out that the IE Global MBA online is one of the best worldwide.Other options included Indiana/Kelley in the USA, & Warwick & Manchester in the UK. But since I'm biased to Spain/Continental Europe, I dropped the UK programs. As for Indiana Kelley, I dropped it as well as because:
1-80% of its students are American (lack of diversity).
2-The 7-hours time difference between Egypt & the USA would make the online sessions a big hassle
3-It only has AACSB accreditation, while IE GMBA has AACSB, Equis & Amba
4-I'm biased to Spain ,again:)!
5-I know people who did the IE GMBA & they highly recommend it, but I don't know anyone who did Indiana/Kelley
Other US online options include: Cornell, Duke & Carnegie Melon , but their costs are prohibitive (USD$ +100,000).
I have a lot of web links about this subject (online MBAs), feel free to contact me if you would me to post them.
I have a question for the Scottish 31 years old teacher: Why did you choose IE over Warwick & Manchester?
Regards,
Khaled

hi khaled,
well, basically for two reasons, maybe three. firstly, ie offers the best distance programme i have found, it comes highly recommended. as i can't leave my job right now, it makes sense for me to do the ie mba.
secondly, the price! ie is cheaper than both manchester and warwick, and seems to be just as good, if not better.
thirdly, having done my undergraduate degree in the uk (edinburgh) i think it's good to have another country's award on my cv.
and then there are a number of small things as well, like you said, the diversity of the classes, full accreditation, and, like you, i'm biased towards europe. and it's easy for me to get over to madrid for the two weeks of work there.
bye,
alistair.

Hi there,
I'm planning to apply for Global MBA online program in IE.
Since most of y'all have been accepted to that program, could you please share experiences and tips, strategies to take the IE admissions test? And also do you think that it's easier to take the GMAT instead?
I really appreciate your cooperation!

I'd like to hear experiences too! It seems like a really interesting program, but I wonder if the relative lack of face-to-face contact would hurt the overall experience.
Those week-long sessions in Madrid would help (and it would not be a terrible place to get away to!)
