HEC Montreal MBA

Hi,

I am considering enrolling in HEC Montreal one year MBA program. Is this program too good to be true. because it is ranked well in Canada and has three accreditations but it is very cheap compared to other mab programs such as ivey or UfT.( which made me think there might not be much demand for it) what do you think of this program for someone who has 6 years of work experience in financial industry in Toronto. I have undergraduate degree from york university in accounting and am writing my last level in CFA this june. I would like to end up working in Dubai later on as an option or come back to Toronto if that does not work out. I would like to work in finance ( mainly in asset management, research, risk management, or corporate finance). Do you think it is worth it?

HEC Montreal is a good MBA program, provides a solid bang for the buck. I had applied to the program back in 2012, I didn't get through it - my friend graduated from HEC and is currently working in US. He has nothing but good things to say about the program - it delivers what it says it would and doesn't what it doesn't say it would.

If I remember correctly, average work experience was around 7-8 years. However, to fully utilize the learning experience it would be beneficial if you can converse in French.

Not sure how will the Dubai link work out. You'll need to search for alumni working in UAE (if any). Dubai allows for tax free income - which may be lucrative for some, but I think that quality of life is (and will) be much better in Toronto.
