Distance Learning - MBA or EMIB

More Online MBA discussions at FIND MBA Online

Hi,

My name is Bru, and I am looking to study for an MBA or EMIB. My background is in Fashion, E-commerce and Marketing. I recently founded an online platform for slow and conscious fashion brands.

The main reason to study this degree as a business founder is to get the right skills and knowledge to keep developing this e-commerce which is based in the UK, and I am expanding to the USA. But also to build a solid and successful career around this industry.

I am between a couple of business schools based in the UK and Europe, but it's hard to decide which one is the best option and fit for me, as there are many different (positive and negative) opinions about these schools. Also, it's important to mention that my budget is up to £20000.

My first option is EMIB (Executive Master International Business) from the ESCP Business School, ranked one of the most prestigious schools in Europe and the third best business school in France.

My second option is the MBA - Distance Learning - Liverpool Management School, that's triple crown accredited and part of the Russell Group.

My third option is MBA - Distance Learning - Bradford University, that's triple crown accredited, and it's been ranked as one of the best distance learning MBAs by the Financial Times.

My option number four is MBA - Distance Learning from Aston University, same description as above.

My last option would be the Global MBA from ESMT Berlin, which I know is one of the best, but the course is over my budget.

I would appreciate it if you could help me with some recommendations.

Thank you,

Avoid EMIB.  That's not an official / government-approved masters degree.  ESCP offers both official and unofficial programs.  Go for officially recognized programs at ESCP so you can avoid the headache of not getting your degree recognized in other countries.

There's another thread by Duncan that discusses this issue.

I don't see why want a third rate MBA when you could take better designed MBA courses on coursera for free

Hi,

Thank you for your answer, but Do you mean that an MBA from any of the universities mentioned above is not worthy? - I want to clarify that I am not looking to work in finance or a bank; I am looking to do a course that will provide me with the knowledge and skills to lead and develop a business.

Also, my budget does not cover universities such as Imperial, Durham or Warwick. Considering that my budget is limited, Which school from the ones above still do you recommend? -

Thank you,

Bru.

I struggle to see how these schools help you meet your goals more than coursera would do. If your budget is limited, you may get a better ROI in other ways.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer,

I am now considering taking the MBA in one of the following schools:

- MBA from Hult Business School
- MBA from Liverpool University
- MBA from Birmingham University

I got offers from these schools.

Which one would you recommend if my goal is specifically in entrepreneurship and leading a start-up business based in UK and USA?

Thank you,

If you are considering distance learning, then the MSc in entrepreneurship at HEC Paris, or the online MBAs from Babson or Illinois, seem much better. If full-time, then I would say Birmingham is a great choice for many industries: the university is a huge creator of patents that can be commercialised https://www.market-inspector.co.uk/blog/2018/11/top-innovative-universities-uk and the city is just an hour from London but with a massive cost advantage over London.
