I am planning on preparing for cat and mat and want to study in a top mba school in india or mica.got 74% in 12th and the possibility of having a first class in honours look good.for some personal reasons i had to take two years off in high school. if i have the proper percentile, will this be a problem?

That seems like a good question to ask on an Indian website.

The best business schools are more competitive than ever these days, but it may still possible to get into them! High GMAT and GPA scores are still important of course, but the latest trends I?ve seen are more towards gaining the most work experience possible and making sure you?re career goals are clearly stated. If you get rejected at first, don?t quit! Remember, there?s a lot of helpful tips online like articles such as http://www.gradschools.com/article-detail/reasons-mba-students-are-rejected-1862 that offer great advice for those of us looking to get into top schools. Good luck everyone!
