Hi!

I am currently an analytics consultant at MBB and happy with my career path. I'm looking to get an MBA mainly for the management exposure it provides and to make my CV well rounded .

I've been accepted to the Online MBA from Boston and the FT program from WHU. I know they are two very different programs, but honestly I can't seem to make a decision and I've spent many hours trying to see what's best for me.

WHU Pros:
1 year program || Networking || European lifestyle
WHU Cons:
Have to stop working || Somewhat expensive
Boston Pros:
Fair tuition fee || US degree
Boston Cons:
2 year program || No direct networking?

In terms of career aspirations, I would love to stay in consulting but I'm open to other ventures. I have German at B1, not enough I know but hopefully can get better with time.
Do you think an online MBA would open doors for work in the US?

Any opinions or thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are happy with your career path, then a part-time MBA could meet your needs. SInce you have applied to WHU and speak some German, I assume you are working in Europe and do not have the right to work in the US. If that is the case, BU will have a less useful alumni network for you than a part-time MBA, either EMBA or DL, at a European school.

If you already have the right to work in the USA, then an online MBA can certainly open doors if the school you attend is well networked in your target firms.

Thank you. I have a US work permit tied to the company though and I work in South America.

I don't think WHU makes any sense if you want to network in the Americas. Unless you are near a Cornell EMBA Americas location like Lima or Santiago, an online MBA from a great school like BU will be much better.

I would like to live for some time in Europe, this is why I'm considering WHU and the fact that I know some German.

I don't see how this fits with you being happy with your career path and applying for BU. If your goal is is to move to Europe, then look at the post on best schools for international students placement.
