Ha, I just saw that a "university" was offering an MBA in "Marijuana Business Administration."
At first I laughed but then I thought... Hey, this might not be such a bad idea. With more and more states voters' approving legislation that allows medical marijuana usage, and a few states eyeing the possibility of outright legalization - this might be a good business to get into.
I think that as of now, at least in California, medical dispensaries are forbidden to make a profit. But I'm sure there are ways to make a business like this work. And eventually, if pot becomes legal, a business with a big consumer pool already will be in a good position to take advantage of new rules.
But the other possibility is that with outright legitimization, big tobacco and booze companies will run the entrepreneurs out of town (or buy you out!)
Then again, as with any business, will an MBA open doors that wouldn't have been open before? For some reason in this business I think it's more about "who you know."
