Temple Fox's Online MBA removed from US News ranking

Saw this today:

https://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/college-rankings-blog/articles/2018-01-24/updates-to-temple-universitys-online-mba-rankings

US News is now listing the Temple Fox Online MBA as 'unranked' because it over-reported the number of incoming students who took the GMAT. They originally said that 100% of the students took the GMAT, when the actual percentage who actually did was less than 20%.

Apparently the schools get a bump in the ranking if at least 75% of incoming students submit the GMAT or the GRE.

That's a blow to the school for sure. They were ranked #1 in that ranking.

Ouch! It was probably just a mistake, and not intentional. However, that's definitely not a good result. But I wonder how many Online MBA applicants make their school choice based on the US News Ranking?

It hasn't been a great January for Fox, considering they've also fallen off the FT Ranking:

... and that's in a year where many of the mid-tier US MBA programs actually rose!

Looks like a student is actually suing the school on the school for damages related to fraudulent business practices:

... he says he paid a premium for a top-ranked program.

I hope people do sue the fxxk out of these lizard bastards.

IE is just another Ponzi scheme about to fail off the cliff. The conversations are getting very ugly now.

Temple also run an EMBA out of Singapore which I briefly attended years ago.

Good grief, I count myself lucky not spending my hard-earned money for these shows.

For great education like Duncan loves to say get a diploma from London University online degrees.

Wow, I hadn't heard that IE had been removed from the Global MBA Rankings due to dubious alumni responses.

If I were the FT, I would certainly try to get to the bottom of that. I mean, was IE really trying to mislead the publication? Or, was something just fumbled? It's not really clear from that article.

I think it's much more likely to be poor administration at IE rather than a conscious attempt to fake data. For example, I used to work for City University, and I created a [email protected] alias which I used for faster online registrations. When I left, that alias was deleted and became available for anyone else to create. Of course they would have all my junk email too. So... there can be a number of reasons, especially in a Spanish-speaking cohort where there can be a lot more people with the same name than in an Anglo-Saxon cohort.

What makes it very hard is the FT's alliance with IE. Under those circumstances the paper just has to be very cautious and it made the right choice.

I tend to agree with this. I feel like this is something that happens across business schools in Spain, for whatever reason.

In any case, the FT's Online MBA Ranking is out today:

https://find-mba.com/news/2018/03/the-fts-online-mba-ranking-updated-for-2018

IE dropped to #2... Salaries at that school were down, about $10k from the previous year's ranking... Warwick is #1. Not a lot of surprises.

IE didn't get removed, but does anybody else find that salary drop a bit suspicious?

Most of the other average salaries increased, with the exception of a couple of US programs that dropped slightly.

Looks like Fox is cleaning house - they commissioned a study which found that the dean was responsible for falsifying the data, and then they have just fired him.
