Online MBA or Nothing?

I want to do an MBA because I need some career advancement.

But because I have a family I cannot do a full time MBA. I was thinking of doing an Online MBA.

Will this help with career advancement? I have been a sales representative / administrative assistant for 3 years now, and I need to move on.

Please advise.

Beyond career advancement, what are your goals? In general, Online MBAs are ideal for those who do not want to make large career shifts (country, functional, or industry). If you wanted to make a substantial shift, maybe look at a Full-Time program instead.

If you wanted to stay in your current industry and simply move up the chain, so to speak, an Online MBA could work. Keep in mind that the FT-ranked programs all show good salary growth, but are generally aimed at older students than their Full-Time MBA counterparts.

Good programs, both of them. Looks like the UNL program took a pretty big drop in this year's FT Online MBA Ranking, but it's still there!

I'm doing an online MSc at Birmingham and I feel more involved than I was in traditional classes, so I would reccommend it to anyone.
Speaking about online MBAs, take a look at UMass-Amherst Isenberg's program too.

Yes, I did. Their recruitment team was superb, they reached out to me with some calls to give me more informations, all overseas calls at their expenses.
Then, when I started the application process, I was followed step-by-step by a dedicated coordinator.
Had the 45' interview, submitted transcripts, TOEFL, resume, personal statement and 2 letters of raccomandations.
No GMAT was requested, but their Online MBA does need it.

The workload is massive, I'm currently taking the Accounting and Finance module: in 2 months I'll have to do 2 individual executive summaries, 1 group presentation on a case study and the final exam.
Plus 2 ungraded individual or group assignments per week.

Many scholarships are not awarded by schools but by charities and governments. Most university libraries will have a directory. School scholarships will tend to be the most competitive and will be listed on their websites.

Yes, many Online MBA programs can be done completely from home - wherever you are - with the exception of ones that require in-class residencies.
