IS VALUABLE TO MAKE AN AFFORDABLE ONLINE MBA?

Hi, I´m from Colombia and I am living here now. I am Civil Engineer and I have experience of three years in construction and Real Estate. I want to do a MBA because I need some career advancement. The reason I prefer the MBA above an Msc is its flexibility. There are in Colombia some goods Business Schools like the University of Andes, but I think an abroad study could give me a plus. I have studied the possibilty of study an Full Time MBA abroad but the tuition and the life costs are really high so now I am looking for an Online MBA, working at while. My mainly goal is get an high salary, don´t care the sector, but I want looking my own business in some years. I have studied the Online MBA offer and the rankings and I have selected the next programs.

1. Most recognized but the most expensives. These are programs with a tuition around
$60.000, so hight for the Colombian salaries, but with a good position in the rankings.
According the FT Ranking they have salaries around $150.000, but according The
economist Gmat Tour the salaries are around $80.000. Searching in Linkedin there are a
lot of IE School graduates in Colombia but I feel the people value most an US or UK
master than a Spain master,
- IE School, Global MBA.
- Warwick
- Kelley
- Isenberg
2. Affordable but not the best. Almost a half of the cost of the previous category and
salaries between $110.000 and $140.000 (Durham) according FT, but according The
economist Gmat Tutor the salaries are around $80.000,
- Bradford
- Euro MBA
- Durham
3. Best price but is it really good? I am enthusiastic with this program, is really cheaper and
I have heard good reviews about it. According The Economist GMAT Tutor this Online
MBA had an average salarie of $129.000!!!. My doubt is, is this a comparable program
like Warwick or IE?
- iMBA, illinois

I think an MBA is a very important study and I should do the best, but could be reckless spend a lot of money living in a country where the salaries for an MBA graduate could be around $35.000 with few people earning more. What do you think? Is really worth spend a lot of money in Warwick, IE...? or is a good choice do an more affordable MBA for looking an high salary?

Thank you very much.

For students in Colombia, it's not reasonable to assume these averages will be the same as the global averages. The big variable here is not the MBA but your goals. A full time MBA will be better if you want to get your salary to this level.

Consider ASU and Florida. Their full time MBA on-campus is free for everyone that gets accepted. You still have to cover living costs of course

If you want to leave Colombia, then take a look at: Best schools for international students' placement http://www.find-mba.com/board/41143

I don't think that an online MBA will increase your possibility of leaving the country as much as a full-time MBA or MSc.

If you want to stay in Colombia then a school like Universidad de Los Andes will probably be a less risky investment.
