UK vs US MBA for career shift

Hello all,

I am an I.T graduate with over 4 years of managerial experience in the Indian Engineering sector having worked in various cross functional roles such as I.T infrastructure management and ERP implementation.

I am seriously considering a MBA either in USA or UK for achieving a career shift and getting employed in the I.T consulting field in these two countries.

I have read many posts and have construed that 1 year program structure in UK does not give much of job opportunity in UK for "career switchers".

With this in mind I would like to know whether anyone in this forum can shed some light on whether applying for an MBA in UK for Fall 2010 from Tier 2 schools such as Cass,Aston, Imperial and LUMS would be a effective idea in order to achieve career transition as well as get employed in the new field given the current economic scenraio.

In the same vein would pursuing an MBA from middle rung Schools in USA such as Kelly, Rice and Uni of California,Davis in Fall 2010 enable one to achieve a career switch with job?

I would appreciate thoughts from all of you in this regard.

Thanks for reading this post

hi

firstly schools mentioned by you are not at all tier 2 schools, they are definitely tier 1 school

one year mba is good for prof exec looking for break, now i dont think u can underestimate value of one year mba, after all iese, oxford, cambridge, lbs all are one year mba,

u can apply for any school of ur choice, but before doing that and not wasting time with schools, i suggest if u have not written gmat, write gmat , see where you stand and than go ahead and apply to schools of your choice.

hope this helps
