Suggest me
Hello,Sun Jul 19, 2009 09:12 PM I am MBA aspirant. I have 2.5 years of IT (software engineer) experience. Please suggest me the best university and the best course of specialization among the following list. Also tell me which is the best university for MBA in IT. Cardiff De Montfort Uni. of East London Sheffield Hallam Uni. Stirling Uni. Uni. of Central Lancashire Themes Valley Uni. Greenwich Please suggest me as early as possible... Thanks in advance. |

Where did you come up with this list? Do you actually know each of the schools personally? A source would be helpful so we know how to treat the information.Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:11 AM You have missed off at least LBS and Leeds, so I am guessing that a few more are missing. The question was about best MBA, not best Uni. So LSE and St.Andrew's shouldn't be on there. Reading, Hull, Surrey and Glasgow are all quite good universities, but dubious for a least of MBA schools. |

Reading (Henley) is a very good school for MBA. Others as you have told are not that good... The list presented is a general one... in fact its a collection of a majority of good Unis in the UK but their B Schools may not be a good one. i have just mentioned few of the schools which i feel are good or the best uk B-schools, considering there rankings and there accreditation..sorry to miss out LBS.. its the best :)

Hi Heman.Mon Jul 20, 2009 02:07 PM Regarding your first question, I believe the only reputable school from your list is Cardiff. Altough its not ranked in the FT and Economist, it belongs to a very good uni and achieved top results in the last RAE. The rest of them, don't waste your time. In terms of the best B'schools in the UK, the list given in response is pretty complete, although it includes schools that are only prestigous at undergraduate level. Looking at rankings and general prestige among employers, I would say that the folowing schools have the best full-time MBA programmes in the UK and all of them would open doors for you (at different levels of course) LBS Judge: Cambridge Said: Oxford Warwick Imperial College MBS Cranfield Lancaster Caas Birmingham Edinburgh Durham Bath Leeds Aston Strathclyde Nottingham Notes: 1) Although Henley and Ashridge are excellent schools, they were not included due to their focus on Executive MBAs. 2) Bradford: Although it is still ranked in the FT and Economist, a degree from there is not highly regarded in the UK. Fair point about Reading, I had forgotten that they bought Henley (officially 'merged'....) but still better for executive programmes. Mon Jul 20, 2009 04:02 PM To Add: Did you really mean to say that Cardiff was the only reputable school on the list....? Surely not? |

And according to her, these are the only universities which could give me the offer(According to my Resume). Please tell me the future prospectus for the plane MBA and after doing Plane MBA, will my 2.5 years of IT experience consider? Please suggest me accordingly ! , |

To JamieO: I meant that Cardiff is still an OK option, and the only one within the list provided by Heman. It's still a degree from Cardiff Uni, and the Business School is conducting joint activities with Warwick and Manchester, so I would say they are going places... However, I clearly indicated the top business schools in the UK according to my understanding, and Cardiff wasn't there, but I believe it will be in a near future...Mon Jul 20, 2009 09:48 PM Heman, seriously, maybe you should consider a second opinion from another counselor... |

Is your counsellor working at an agency that happens to have contracts wth these universities...? international students are big business in the UK and an agent can earn at least 10% of your tuition fee for a referral. |

Dear heman1110Tue Jul 21, 2009 06:03 PM Think of a postgraduate course at Greenwich as their CMS school has good+ reputation. Also their business school offers an MBA which is quite unique. On the other hand, links to the industry is not their strength. But they follow stritlythe governments policies (QAA). You might checkout their site. Many colleges offer an MBA from Wales which can lower the reputation. In my opinion, the MBA is mainy about doing things on your own, so it does not really matter where you go, unless you choose a top top school with great links to the uni, but competition there is very hard, and not all students end with success. Important: Speak to Alumnis of three or four prefered schools and make a picture. Hope having provided some help. |
