1 yr - US or Europe?

Hi,

I am trying to determine where I would be better off doing a 1-year Full Time MBA course in the current economic climate - US or Europe? And what are the best schools for a 1 yr program right now, in either of these continents? My personal convictions are currently leading me to Europe. Would like to work in UK, US, Canada later. Looking forward to your response.. Thanks n cheers! :-)

Europe could be a good bet to do a one year programme and get back in to a market when new jobs are being created. continental europe might also be better than the UK as the UK downturn is particularly worse than european counterparts.

2 years in the US at this point though would really see you through the recession, without the worry that you might graduate too early. but from my point of view, it is still a long time out of a career.

That's a rather broad question - do you have a specific focus? Specific career goals?

Most of the better business schools on either side of the pond have one-year programs: Kelogg, Cornell, Cambridge, Oxford - you can name them all. And those schools' reputations generally scale down to the shorter programs. Again, it depends on what your focus is.

I think Cornell and Kellogg are exceptions. Most of the top US business schools (like NYU Stern, Columbia, Harvard, Chicago Booth, Wharton, Stanford, Yale, MIT Sloan) still offer the traditional two-year MBA.

Some time ago, I posted a list of top one year MBA programs: www.find-mba.com/board/2287/last/#post-5015

I guess the list is still valid.

you missed off IMD (and LBS - nearly 1 year) but include Oxbridge Florida and Babson? Maybe things were different a couple of years ago... ;-)
